Art, to me, is the language of emotion — whether expressed through the resonance of strings, the rhythm of a dance, or the quiet stillness of a pencil stroke. My creative journey began with the piano at age four and grew through the cello, bass, and visual art. Each form has taught me something different: precision, patience, collaboration, and the courage to express freely.

From performing Vivaldi’s Winter alongside world-class musicians to translating choreography into drawings that capture motion and memory, I explore how art connects the inner world with the outer one. Across music and visual art, I seek harmony — not only in sound or form, but in the balance between discipline and imagination.

“To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”

— Ludwig van Beethoven

Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I first picked up the cello in Grade 2, drawn to its deep, human tone — a sound that felt both grounding and expressive. Since then, I’ve spent over a decade growing alongside my instrument, performing as a cellist in the 40+ member ISB High School Orchestra. We rehearse three times a week and bring music to life at school concerts, assemblies, and graduation performances.

One of my most meaningful moments was performing Vivaldi’s Winter with world-renowned violinist Lü Siqing, an experience that deepened my appreciation for collaboration and musical storytelling. Beyond the stage, I serve as a peer mentor, helping over 15 younger students develop their technique, confidence, and love for music.

For me, the cello is more than an instrument — it’s a way to listen, connect, and lead through harmony.

Visual Art - Drawing

My drawings are born from motion. As a dancer, I’ve always been fascinated by the flow of the human body — the curve of a gesture, the stillness after a leap, the emotion suspended in a single line. Through sketching and mixed-media art, I translate choreography into visual form, exploring how motion, light, and emotion intertwine. Each piece reflects a dialogue between discipline and freedom — between the body that performs and the hand that remembers.

Bass

I was selected for the 2023 APAC Orchestra as one of two bassists from a 40+ member Concert Orchestra. As a trained cellist, I was only given one month to learn the basics of the double bass while using it to perform challenging repertoire. During the festival, I collaborated with peers from 6 different schools, immersing in three days of intense sectional rehearsals with guest artists and showcasing the outcomes in the final performance.

Piano

I began piano at the young age of 4, practicing foundations and complex pieces to work towards performances and the ABRSM exams. My most notable achievements include Distinction for Grade 4, Grade 5 (music theory), and Grade 7. I was able to apply my experience and understanding of the piano when I began to learn the cello.
